car starts but turns off it will stay on if i press gas pedal

It starts then turns of and check engine light comes on then I started it again and gave it gas it stays on but when let go of gas it shuts off. I thought it was out of gas cause it was low so I added 2 gallons and same problem

Check to make sure there are no vacuum leaks on the engine and check the idle air control valve. NOTE: If the check engine light is on with the engine running, then there will be a trouble code stored in the computer. Have a parts store scan the computer for you. Most will do it for free.
