I have a 1991 Ford F150 4x4 standard cab 8 ft bed 300 Straight 6 with a leaking front tank. I am wanting to just replace the tank and the mechanic I talked to said I could use any tank off a F150 as long as it's 1991-1996 and 4x4. I pulled one today from a 1992 F150 4x4 and brought it home to check out.

you need an exact replacement. they make aftermarket tanks out of a plastic material that hold up well. replace the straps as well.
