The transmission in not engaging the last shift, it seems that fails to engage the overdrive

The car is running over accelerate as the last shift on the automatic transmission is not engaging, do you believe is a electrical or mechanical problem?
Where can be the problem located and how can I fix it?

It could be several things. Make sure the fluid is clean and full. After that, it becomes an internal issue with shift solenoids, the governer, torque converter... The computer should be scanned to see if there are any trans trouble codes.
