1991 Dodge Dakota idle control motor

i just replaced my idle control motor but i did not diconnect the negative battery before i did it, i adjusted the idle screw once to set a good idle, will computer get used to new motor, or should i disconnect the negative battery cable for awhile to reset the computer of old memories, or does it adjust on its own.
