First thing to do is see if there are any codes. Cross A&B on the aldl with a paper clip or similar and read the flashes. If 12 popps up that is anormal code but nay other write them down and look up OBDI on the repair site here to see if there is aproblem. Then check the pink wire at the col to see how many volts are going there, should be 12. Then disconnect the pickup col and see how many ohms it has, if it's over 1000 then you'll need anew one. Have the ecm in the dist tested at an auto parst store and when reinstlling make sure there is dielectric copound on the bottom to make good contact with the plate in dist. Lastly check the main coil wire going from coil to dist. If it's corroded on either end junk it and get a new one and make sure it is in the cap. The coil you installed may be the problem as well as it may have to much resistance in it. Stick with Delco, standard, echlin(napa brand).
