I just came in from jump starting my 1991 buick park avenue to find out its now runnig hot. It reaches to about the red on the temperature gauge before the red light comes on and shuts the car off. After shutting off I cannot start back up because of a drained battery(I just put an alternator in today). But I can hear bubbling from the coolant tank and a little from the radiator. Is there a way of knowing if its a blown head, bad thermostat, or anything else that's making the engine overheat? Please help me.

Try replacing the thermostat and go from there

Would that have anything to do with the battery draining and not being able to start after cutting off too?

No, that should be a different problem.

Battery draining would be due to an electrical fault and most common causes would be stuck relays.
