I have to disconnect my battery so it will not run down, my rear lights stays on when I connect the battery and will not go off is the sensor bad and needs to be replaced? or is there a wiring problem? I've checked the light switch and it is fine, what might be wrong

I assume it's the brake lights that are staying on. There is a rubber bumper that the switch pushes against and the deteriorate and fall off. You can get a new one at the dealer or sometimes I just glue a penny in it's place.
