We just replaced the fuel pump, harness, float, etc. came as one part. The car still will not start, help?

A few weeks ago replaced the fuel filter and then one day had a bit of trouble starting the car, this also happened before changing the fuel filter. So he replaced the fuel pump and relay next. Now the gas does not seem to be even getting to the fuel filter. He tested the pump before installing it in the tank, the first one was defective so he had to do the job all over again. Why isn't the fuel making it to the filter at least? Is there a reset button, or do you have to reset computer by disconnecting the battery terminal or something simple like that?

If you are not getting fuel even to the filter, something is either done wrong in the wiring, or the pump is faulty. You would need to check that there is power to the pump, for a couple seconds at key on, and then continuous while cranking. If your pump module included a harness that you cut and spliced in, then perhaps it is wired in reverse. There is no reset of anything.

He did not splice any wires the new harness came with a plug in thing and he just plugged the new one to the car's original end plug, so there was no rewiring or anything like that, just plug the 2 ends together and that was that. If the new harness was defective, would that cause the pump to work but not allow the gas to be pumped out of the tank?

If the pump is 'working', it should pump from the tank and pressurize the line. If the pump is working in reverse, it is in a sense, sucking fuel from the filter and putting it in the tank. I would speculate, sight unseen, that the pump is not coming on.
