Check and test the ignition coil and also the exhaust system for restriction-catalytic converter could be clogged

By loosing power do you mean the car shuts off, or the engine looses horse power?

car loses power as it heats up but doesnt shut off

I think Raz might be right, it sounds like a cat converter. Please go to this leak for more info.
