i need to know if the coil i have is bad.

the coil has 2 wires going to it,with the coil unpluged and key on one reeds 12v,the other reeds 0v with it pluged up both reed 12v,is this the right responce or do i hve a bad coil?

you need to check coils by resistance not volts. primary ohms on rh side .77-.95 secondary resistance 6000-30000. Lh side 900-1100
