My son has a 1990 Isuzu Trooper. The outer CV joint boot broke. We decided to replace the axle instead of just the boot, since all parts have over 275,000 miles on them and there was likely wear or damage from the loss of grease in the boot.

We removed the outer hub and now the outer axle spline is free. We cannot seem to remove the inner spline. The diagrams don't show any clips that might hold it. We've tried a pickling fork and a 4lb hammer to separate the part from the differential, but so far, it hasn't moved a bit.

Is there a tip or trick to this one? I've changed many on VW Jettas, but they don't have an inner spline.

Hope someone out there can help.

Many Thanks, in advance.

I saw that no one replied to your question. I too am have this same issue and was wondering what the outcome was.
