I have a 1990 honda civic si and the check engine light recently came on. I want to get a scanner to see what the problem is before taking it to a mechanic. Which scanner is used for this year and model? And where exactly do I plug it into my car? Thanks.

No scanner available. obd 1 system. you jump a 2 wire connector under the right side kick panel and count the light flashes to retrieve the codes.

Heres a link to the codes once you get them

Obd1 1995 and older obd2 1996 and newer. The manual will tell you where the diagnostic port is exactly. Could have 2 one under the steering wheel side of the dash and 1 under the hood. The scaner kits will usualy tell you what vehicles and what adapter to use.

The honda has 1 2 wire connector under the right side kick panel only. It can be jumped with a wire and the code numbers will flash out.
