Car will not hold volts

Hello, 1990 ea falcon wagon, auto, carbi type [not multi], well I changed fuel pump & sender unit & fuel relay put 10 lts fuel in, still doing same, when I turn key from lock to 1st position, all OK, then turn to 2nd position fuel gauge goes from empty to full then after a few secs it drops back to empty very fast, cant here pump as still no fuel pumping, also now the battery volts dropping very fast, it would drop to 0% if leave on, repeated with pump disconnected still the same, battery only 1yr old, tryed to jump start but battery looses starting all needed volts to start, even when I charge battery again & again, all this started after 900 k drive, I will try one full night charge & I will try again please help, as I need to get back home thanks.

This is actually a centre point injection system, have you checked for voltage at the fuel pump, it will only cycle for 2-3 sec with the ignition on engine not running, check this first.

Hello mhpautos, there are four wires from f/pump, here how there coloured coded from plug on car to fuel pump plug (small, yellow-green to large, yellow)then (large, black-yellow to large, red) then (small, black to large, black) then (large, black to large, black), which wires do I check with multimeter & had battery on charge 5 hrs last night, while charging & when taken off 12.04 volts let sit, (in morning dropped to 11.86v while not on charger)will not turn car over, I will check fuel pump if you can tell me which wires to check thanks.

I have tried large, black-yellow & large, black 0n car plug & no volts or do I check with pump out of car.

Also I noticed that when battery is on battery charger turned on at wall, the most it will charge to is 12.20 volts, when disconnected its 12.04 every time.

I would also get the battery load tested, this is the only way to test the battery condition.

Battery ok, but which wires do I check ( as I mentioned earlier ) & what position do I have key on & anything else I can check thanks.
