The crankshaft sensor is located inside the distributor here is a guide so you can see what it is.

I would get a rebuild distributor and drop it in. just line up the rotor and position the distributor housing in the same place mark them.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

i tried spraying carb cleaner. it didnt start but it is making a slightly different noise now when cranking. like it wants to start but cant. i have tried so many things. i have replaced cap and rotor and plugs and wires. it runs for about a week and then stops starting. and then i get it jumped and it runs for about another week before doing the same thing. No spark when the engine will not start.

No crankshaft position sensor but it does have a camshaft positioning sensor located in the bottom of the distributor. If it is bad you will have no spark. Turn the ignition switch off and on 3 times, (leaving in the on position, and count how many times the check engine light flashes.
The codes are 2 digit numbers read as # short pause # then long pause on to next code. If you get a code 11 the crankshaft sensor didn't put out a signal while cranking which would cause no spark. Code 55 means end test. Look on the net for Dodge OBD 1 chart.
