1990 Chevrolet Truck back end gasket replacement

i have remove the cover on the back end and drain all the oil out do i need to replace a new gasket or can i use silicone?

You may not even find a cork or fiber gasket because no one uses them for this application. Use the silicone gasket sealer but be sure both surfaces are perfectly clean. Some sealers don't bond or seal if there is any oil residue on the surface.
