1990 cavalier z24, keys locked in car. Will pulling inside handle open door?

If you can pull the handle, can't you unlock the door? As far as pulling the handle, it should open the door.

I figured it out, I think. We were trying to open the passenger door by pulling on the inner handle.(drivers side was up against large snowdrift) There must be some sort of child safety setting on the passenger door, because when I tried the drivers side it openned by pulling the handle. Thanks, maybe this will help out some others. I looked at my other car and it actually has a little lever on the side of the door that activates a child safety, window won't go all of the way down, and deactivates the inner handle.
