my 1990 fleetwood shuts off when i turn the heat or air on

the idle changes and its like the motor works ten times harder

The engine does have to work harder if the AC is turned on.
With the engine running, make sure the coil is still receiving a minimum of 12.8Volts. Also check the heating and cooling system grounds. How long has it been since the engine had a tune-up? Or the air filter and fuel filter were replaced?
