Car tries to start but wont. After cranking for several minutes the car will start and run fine.

What is the model year? Use a gage and check fuel pressure, key on engine off and cranking. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable codes?

Right now it sounds like a fuel pressure issue, 40--47 psi. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage, if you don't have one.
