When I hit the gas sometimes I hear a poping noise what causes this? And it will sometimes do it and cut off.

It can be a burnt valve, a bent pushrod or a bad spark plug. If it cuts off get the car looked at as it may be a crank or cam sensor

It does it when I try to build speed sounds like backfire but sounds like its come from under the hood on drivers side

Have your ignition system checked and compression checked it will tell you alot.
