At first didn't think fuel pump was working. Now I hear it pumping but injectors are not yielding fuel!

car has sat for a year or so and now will not start unless you spray starting fluid in the intake path

You can hear the pump run, but it may not be producing enough pressure to run the engine. Check fuel pump pressure first.
