I have a 1989 4x4 toyota pickup with 200,000 miles. i'm experiencing a problem while accelerating my pickup starts spitting and sputtering until it gets up to about 3000 rpms then stops. It kinda sounds like it has a miss while it idles to but not bad. The head gasket was replaced not to long ago and had a full tune up with plugs wires, plugs, rotor, and cap. What do you think would be causing this spitting and sputtering im experiencing?

It sounds like a timing issue to me. I would take it back to the mechanic who did the work and have them reset the timing and check the timing chain/timing belt to make sure the trucks timing is correct. It definitely sounds like a timing issue if after 3k it runs fine.
