1989 Plymouth Voyager mileage: 97,000. The oil pressure drops when engine is accelerated or while it shifts down from overdrive. I have replaced the Oil pressure switch or oil pressure sending unit & that has not changed things. I have not had the oil pressure gage checked. When it is idling, oil pressure is good. What is my problem and where does it lie? I would like to fix this myself.

Several things may be causing your problem. Check for sludge in oil pan restricting oil flow to oil pump pickup. In addition, check oil return drains in the valve cover area
