crank sensor

1989 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS

how do i install and properly gap (special tool?) a crank sensor on 89 olds cutlass ciera? instructions say to gap .30 and in one slot only. theres 2 vanes on balancer and 2 slots on senor what do i do?

if you gap one at 30 the other will also be at 30.install and put pulley up to check that it clears the fireing ring . be positive that there is no damage at all to the fireing ring especially bent anywhere.

oh yes thank you for reply hey i was wondering do i line up both slots with both rings? seems to be the logical thing to do i want to be sure thanks again for ur time

yes they are lined very close when the sensor is mounted. you just have to be very careful because those fireing rinds are very easy to bend.
