How do I access the front air vents near the windshield in my 89 Nissan Maxima to remove leaves clogging them?

If you are referring to the area on the outside of the vehicle at the base of the windshield, you need to remove the cowl. Open the hood and you should find the screws that hold it in place. If you have a problem in the vehicle (vents) you need to remove the HVAC ducts which requires that you remove the dash on this vehicle.
