1989 Mercury Topaz transmission problems

Took my 1989 Mercury Topaz to the car wash 3 days ago to degrease the engine. After washing the engine my transmission now shifts incorrectly. It winds way out before it up-shifts and down-shifts really hard as well. Did I perhaps get a sensor wet or knock off a vacuum line. I have been looking all over the engine and nothing obviously wet or disconnected.

89 was a while ago, but I don't recall them having vacuum lines to the transmission. Has the check engine light come on? That would indicate possible trouble codes from the transmission.
