starts only at neutral position but not in park?
no dashboard illuminations?

Starting only in neutral indictes the Park Neutral Position switch is either out of adjustment or faulty.

No dash illuminations could be due to a blown fuse.

Starter hesitation during starting could be due to weak battery, loose terminal connections or a failing starter motor or its wiring.
