I have a REALLY bad vibration when idling in park. Lessens when put under load i.E. In gear or when gaining speed, but always there. All the motor mounts are in good shape. Before this started (2 days ago, VERY minimal driving since, maybe 3 miles) the jeep felt like it was trying to engage the gear when stopped at a red light, and would bog the engine for a sec. A friend with an '88 suggested it might be the vacuum disconect in the Dana 30 front end, or something in the torque converter. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the motor running correctly? This could be the reason.

It could be a failed converter and from your description, it could be a trans fault.

You need a shop to at least drive the car to verify the motor is good, and the trans may be the issue. Make sure the flywheel is not cracked as well.
