We Have a 1989 honda accord and one day driving down the freeway And suddenly it started To spit &sputter. It was like someone just pulled a fuse out And killed the engine, you could there was no spark because you could smell gas, like it flooded out. We had it towed home And replaced the igniter, distributor, And the starter because it was making wierd sound And put On new plug wires. Before we replaced all of this, I checked For spark And had none from distributor To the plugs And also replaced the coil And the radiocondensor And whats really wierd is k could turn the top pulley For timing belt And the distributor, crank And timing belt all moved together. I just got the starter In And hope that could be the problem the book says it has a clutch inside th estarter And that could be slipping, which slip. What would cause the distributor, crank And timing belt To not move At all but you can move all three At the same time by turning the pulley On the timing belt?
Also what would cause the flywheel To crank slowly but wont turn the crank, timing belt And the distrkbutor?
Before this happened it ran great.

Sounds like you either broke a timing belt or the crank broke. Have a pro check it locally if the timing belt let go then you have probably bent valves in the engine. The starter has what is called a starter drive and that can be bad.
