In the morning after I let my car warm up for 5-6 minutes. For the pas couple of weeks ive noticed I get in my car and shift into gear to go but as I take off. My car doesnt want to shift into 2nd gear right away. It takes 5-6 minutes for it to shift then its ok all day. Unless I let the car sit (off) for hours. Then it does it again. Transmission fluid I check weekly never low. Ive asked about getting a transmition service but was told I shouldnt because the car might have gotten use to all the slime and stuff in it. Any suggestions on what it is?

ps. 89 honda accord lxi automatic :)

You should replace trans fluid and filter at 60 to 70 thousand miles but you can look at the correct interveal at autozone. Com your cars fluids is the life of it notttttt changing damages it particles from the metals insde the transmission get caught up in the screen and the fluid get s old and it doesnt do the job its suppose to do you can change fluid filter and ad some additive I always tell people change the fluid and filter or change the transission filter and fluid 30 to 40 $ or transmission 700 to 900$ its your call and whoever told you not to change it is a bone head tell him keep an eye on the fries at McDonalds and dont let em burn cause hes used the cookin oilsince they opened and also I would scan the car to see if there is a falty shift selinoid

Check the transmission throttle cable adjustment. Fluid replacement should be done periodically but never a transmission flush which is a waste of money and can cause more harm than good. Drain and refill should do and for this vehicle, there is no filter for you to replace.
