My cruise control only works sporadically. Can not seem to find any commonality as to when it does or does not work. When it works, it works great, when it don't work, it just will not engage the cruise mode. A friend said it might be the switch assembly that is attached to the steering column, that among other things prevents the car from starting unless it is in Park. Does that sound possible, and what is the proper name for that switch ? What else can I check to see what is causing my cruise control not to work consistently ?
Appreciate any advise you may have.

Do you have any brake lights out, do the brake lights work properly. It could your cruise control module. When it isn't working give it a smack to see if it works. It has a electric motor which can seize up
