how to remove the flange that is connected to the front drive line without the front drive line spinning freely on a 1989 gmc sierra k1500? I am trying to remove the front drive shaft on my gmc sierra. The truck is four wheel drive. when ever I try to remove the circular flange connecting the rear end of the front drive shaft and the transfer case the front drive shaft spins freely every time I try to loosen the bolts. I am trying to figure out if there is a way for the drive line not spin freely whenever I try to take off the front drive shaft from the transfer case.

You need counter-torque. Wrench pulling to loosen the bolts/nuts, prybar (large screwdriver) pulled opposite direction. This way the driveshaft can be spun as needed.
