How do you remove both plugs from a 1989 ford ranger alternator

Can you describe those plugs? If you have one on the side that has two really fat black wires with orange stripes, you are to not remove that plug ever. Doing so will degrade the mechanical connection between the terminals. At that point the high current will overheat the terminals and they will burn up. When you replace the generator, the new one comes with that plug already installed. You are supposed to cut and splice the wires. Weird, huh?
