'89 Ford Truck slave cylinder/bellhousing

Son bought an '89 F-250 Truck "as is." for $4000. Had clutch trouble. Slave cylinder was jerry-rigged with bailing wire as the place on the bell housing that bolts to slave cylinder was cracked off on one side. Does this mean the tranny must be replaced?

Not the tranny but the bell housing will.
