I have an 1989 Dodge Ramcharger 360,5.2L 4WD. What does it mean when i drive and my engine pops as if it wants to backfire? I just finished replacing the distributor and timed it. When i took it out to test it it pops when i step on the gas and it sounds as if it wants to backfire. I've run out of ideas of what it could be.

Double check timing, and check for fouled plugs. I would say to check compression incase there was a burnt valve, but if it didn't do this before, chances are that isn't the problem. Make sure there are no vacuum leaks.
