I have a great old 1989 Chev Corsica, 2.8 V6, auto tranny. Runs great, but now as I idle down to a stop, the RPM surges up and down from 800 to 1200 RPM,several times, then gently dies. This is a new one on me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when starting, I have to turn key on, then off, then back on and give it alittle gas to fire up. Fuel pump? Just wondering.

I would check for codes and also check the fuel pressure see if the fuel pressure is bleeding down. Also check for a vacuum leak and wouldn't hurt to clean the idle air control valve.
