transmission won't shift out of 1st, even though there is atf reading on the stick. a mechanic says that it might be an electrical/electronic problem: is this a possiblity? what can i check or do? thank you. s.lynn

When the last time you have the fluid and filter changed? Could be a clogged-up valve body or a shifting solenoid-have it pressure tested to find out more-
