Have a friend who tells me she was driving 'along' and there was a big cloud of white smoke and then after that the car refuses to shift up into high ratio when driving. I have taken a look and nothing appears wrong externally but she would like to know what has happened to see if it is worth repairing for herself. Car operates fine except for this complaint
Thank you

Have the transmission fluid and condition checked- if okay-if it has a vacuum modulator checked that too-to include the throttle position and vehicle speed sensors checked-

Fluid fine, right level and smells good rather than burnt and is clear. No Vaccum modulater or any vaccum hoses to the transmission. Thank you for helping. Where would I find these speed sensors on such a basic car please?
