I have a 88 cutlass ciera. the drive went in it today but it has reverse, what could be the issue and how could I fix it

This is not something that you will be able to do at home, the transmission will have to be fully diagnoses first hand by a trans specialist with a variety of special equipment, that will have to be tow in, if you have reverse and no forward gears, it will be an internal problem.
