I have a 1988 Nissan D21 4cyl 2wd pickup with a Z24 engine and a manual transmission. After filling up with gas recently the truck began to surge upon hard acceleration. The truck is now surging and backfiring upon hard (above about 50% or so) acceleration in any gear. I just drove this truck cross country and had no problems with it until I filled it up with gas that da. I have tried using Berryman's B12 chemtool to clean out the fuel system, figuring it was just bad gas, but to no avail. Could you give me an idea of what the problem may be before I see a mechanic so that I don't get taken advantage of? Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Sarah B.

it was perfect until you filled it up? before jumping to any conclusions, i would check your gas.... its possible its contaminated.... you may need to drain your tank, and refill with known good gas.... as a tech, we tend to go back to "what was the last think we touched" routine.... ive seen similar issues.... found out the tanker truck filled the 87 pump tank with diesel.... dont rule it out....
