1988 Mazda 323 Changed Alt Batt Last Weekend Tried Start Car Didn T Realize

Changed the alt. And batt. Last weekend. Tried to start the car and didn't realize i had no gas. So i checked the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel rail, plugs, and injectors . Still won't start unless i put a rag full of gas over the throttle body intake.

if you have power to the pump, then you burned out the pump from no fuel.
