How do you replace ac belt? What do you loosen/tighten to adjust belt tension? Friends car, wasn't sure if you loosen ac comp or what, also need to remove other belt to put ac belt on behind it.

To replace the serpentine belt on the A/C, you need to first loosen the alternator and remove the serpentine belt for the alternator. Then loosen the pivot bolt next to tension pulley and loosen adjustment bolt behind the tension pulley for the A/C. After installing the new belt you will need to manually torch the belt to the right tension, as the 1981 - 1989 do not have automatic tension belt adjustment.
