I have a stock, very low mileage 88 YJ Wangler 6cyl / 5 speed that I've owned for 20 years. It has been sitting for a while with a dead battery and old gas. I was going to tow it, so I hooked up the tow bar on the jeep's front bumper to my truck's trailer hitch. Once connected, I had forgotten that I'd left the jeep in gear and backed up the truck for a couple of feet before realizing that the jeep wasn't rolling due to being in gear. I stopped and tried to shift it back to neutral but it's stuck in gear and won't move now. It can only roll with the clutch depressed. Any suggestions to get it unstuck?

Hello,

Ok, did it shift out of gear prior to trying to tow? If so have you tried pulling it forward. you may have bound the gears if so possibliy by pulling forward it may unbind the gears. If that doesn't work then you will need to remove the Shifter and take a look inside to see if you can find the gear that is binding.
