In my 88 honda accord the key won't turn when the weather gets cool.
this will be the second winter i've had this car. It only does this when it's cool. Last year, I got by by cleaning and lubing the tumblers. This worked some. I sometimes cant get the shifter to register in the park position with out slamming the gear shift around or inserting other "key" into what I will call the gear release hole. It's a slit to the bottom right of the gear shift I was told that this would relase the lock and allow the key to turn. Now the dash board indicates that the car is in park, i'm able to run the gears back and forth, move the steering wheel etc. But the key will not turn no matter how much I try to unlock steering wheel, or us the "gear release hole" ive read many trouble shooters, but none that will link the key and shifter other than wheel is locked please help

Fit a new barrel & key assembly, if the key will not turn, that is about all that will be at fault I feel.

Yes, it is due to a faulty key tumbler. The shift lever is not linked to the ignition key for Honda vehicles.
