I have a 1988 gmc suburban serria classic 2500. it needs a new computer. these computers have the old prom chips. can I get another computer with a correctly programmed prom chip in it or can I pull the one out of the old computer and switch it?

You normally pop the chip out of the old computer and plug it into the replacement computer.
