Mean starter gear hitting flywheel or starter nose piece hitting?

Was starter replaced? Waqs engine out? Is spacer plate in place between engine and trans?

Yes, yes, and yes its even got a spacer between the starter and the bellhousing

Can you file away some of nose it's aluminum. Any give in starter bolts? Where bell housing dowel pins fiting tight?
