I need to know the length of oil dip stick for 88 dodge ram 250/5.2l engine

That isn't something that is commonly published, and it can vary depending on optional equipment that might be in the way, like the AC compressor. Too bad this isn't an '88 Grand Caravan. That's what I'm sitting in right now, and I could hop out and measure it. I have a few Chrysler 318s and 340s at home but those are different too because they're from cars.

There's two ways to approach this. One is to try to find the same vehicle in a salvage yard and retrieve the dip stick. The second is to find a dip stick from a similar engine, do an oil change, then see where the level is shown on that one. Be aware they no longer show "add" and "full". All engines today use a little oil between oil changes, and to address the complaints of oil level always being low, they now say "min" and "max". As long as the level is between those two marks, it's okay. With a new filter, your engine takes five quarts of oil for the oil change. That will show you the correct level on the new dip stick.
