My 1988 Dodge W150 Truck, 5.2 liter with a month old fuel pump has stopped working. There is current going to the fuel pump and no fuel out the supply port when I turn the key to start the truck. To start the truck I have to turn the key all the way clockwise before the truck will start. What would burn out a new fuel pump?

Dirt and debris in the tank locks up the pump. Running out of fuel will burn out a pump no matter what the age.

A bad ground would also result in the fuel pump not working.

" To start the truck I have to turn the key all the way clockwise before the truck will start."

This indicates a possible ignition switch problem.
