idle problems...

I have a 1988 Chevy Corsica...2.8L it surges badly after warmup and then will not stay idling....surges always and actually dies when transmission engaged,,,,new IAC, new head and intake gaskets, plugs and wires...any suggestions? Could it be a torque converter problem?

Check and test the mass airflow, throttle position, manifold absolute pressure sensor to include cleaning out the EGR valve-

clean the throttleplate with choke cleaner on both sides. as well as the oblong hole there that is where the idle air control is . make sure there are no holes in teh air duct between the MAF and throttle plate.
