does the 1988 camaro 305 litre v8 cooling fan is one big fan does it have 2 speeds.

my fan runs on manuel of & on switch but only spins one speed but if i connect direct from battery it seems to spin faster than usual. but my car does heat under load only

If the fan is running, it should be fine. Check to make sure the radiator is not corroded, make sure the thermostat is working properly...
