I tried getting my sons 1988 Buick LeSabre smogged for him and it failed because of the fuel evaporative test. The gas cap test passed but I was told that there was a leak between the tank and the charcoal cannister. I thought if I could just change the line it would pass. They wanted to charge me $350 to repair the line and I thought that was too steep.I tried looking on line to buy a replacement line but "no luck". Can you help?

Is it leaking on a steel line or evaporative hose?

They did not tell me which one it was. I was hoping it was either or, but it sounds like I might need both. Is there a way to tell which one I might need? My guess it's the evapoative hose. The car has been sitting outside in the SoCal sun for a few years. It was given to us as a gift for my 20 yr old son and it just needs some TCL.
